Ryan Cooney — Founder & Managing Member, Clean Path
Ryan Cooney is the Founder of Clean Path and a seasoned energy professional with more than 17 years of experience in the distributed solar and community-solar sectors with a deep understanding of public-sector procurement processes, regulatory compliance, and the unique operational needs of school districts and municipalities pursuing large-scale energy-savings initiatives.
Ryan’s background spans both greenfield community-solar development and behind-the-meter solar project development, giving him a rare, end-to-end perspective across the full lifecycle of distributed energy assets. This dual experience allows him to guide public institutions through program design, project evaluation, financial modeling, and long-term subscription management with confidence and clarity.
At Clean Path, Ryan specializes in helping municipalities and school districts strategically procure and manage community-solar subscriptions that generate meaningful, verifiable savings while minimizing administrative burden. He has developed comprehensive procurement and program-management frameworks that support facilities, finance, legal, and executive leadership, ensuring transparency, alignment, and long-term performance.
Throughout his career, Ryan has been directly involved in the execution of 37 solar projects totaling 125 MW, including early-stage greenfield developments, behind-the-meter projects, and multi-state community-solar portfolios. Prior to founding Clean Path, he held senior and executive roles at various solar companies, many of which achieved significant growth or acquisition, where he regularly partnered with municipalities, higher-education institutions, and K–12 school districts on energy procurement, financial structuring, and long-term program oversight.
Ryan provides public-sector clients with a uniquely comprehensive blend of expertise spanning project development, finance, regulation, interconnection, subscriber operations, and portfolio analytics. This multidisciplinary background enables him to serve as a single, trusted advisor for complex energy-savings programs.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northeastern University.
